Crohn’s Breakfast – A Fast Break to Tradition

The ideal breakfast. A concept foreign to many diets, it is especially true of the traditional diet: pancakes, cereals, fatty meats, etc. the Crohn’s disease diet ensures a healthy breakfast optimal to relieving pain and bathroom usages. Breakfast set up the diet for the rest of the day, so it is imperative for those with digestion problems.

Morning time is often difficult for Crohn’s nutrition for the following reason-routine. Because of routine, there is no time in the morning because of how busy it is; there’s no time for the Crohn’s diet. Second, the routine of sleeping leads to the morning being the most painful times of the day.

The reason why Crohn’s nutrition cannot deal with morning time flare ups as easily as other times is because when a person sleeps gravity pushes. In fact, a person’s height increases an inch or two in the morning and shrinks the same after walking upright having gravity push down rather than stretch out. When gravity stretches a person, it pushes down on the digestive tract with all of its yet-to-be bowl movements. So, all this stress is no match for the Crohn’s diet in the very beginning; it takes time and discipline to see the morning as a positive thing again.

It must be noted that in the Crohn’s diet, there is an action known as full digestion-breakfast must not include this action. Full digestion refers to the stomach working at its normal to full capacity i.e. during around lunch and dinner regarding the traditional diet.

In other words, unlike the traditional breakfast, an ideal breakfast full of Crohn’s nutrition includes little to no simple carbs and high protein. In fact, a member of Pearl Jam, a popular alternative rock back, has Crohn’s, and he places so much importance on breakfast that as a birthday present he was given a personal chef.

Moreover, the ideal breakfast according to the Crohn’s diet, must have a low consistency to have optimal nutrient absorption and thus not undergo full digestion. Because it is easier to digest a liquid over a solid, protein shakes are encouraged. Although eggs, salmon, poultry, and steamed vegetables are beneficial to a Crohn’s diet breakfast, the ideal breakfast is a yam protein shake with probiotics.

The mentioned protein shake would consist of protein, which does not encourage excessive bathroom usages as simple carbs does, probioitcs, which heal the intestines by helping the good bacteria there, and yams that slowly breaking down as a complex carb rather than quickly as a simple carb to give energy while not feeding the bad bacteria at the same time.
