How Many Calories in a Grilled Chicken Breast
The calories in a grilled breast are lower than the fried breast. The grilled meat is lighter than the fried meat because it does not contain a layer of crust.
The grilled pieces are cooked differently. The fried pieces are a high calorie crust from the batter and being deep fried in oil. The grilled pieces does not have batter applied to it. The oils are allowed to drain from the grilled pieces while it is on the grill.
The grilled pieces are skin-less and boneless. This extra processing adds to the price of the raw meat but it makes the cooked product healthier and easier to eat.
How Many Calories in a Skin-less Chicken Breast
Raw processed pieces are delivered from the chicken processing plants in four types. They are available bone-in, boneless, skin-on and skin-less. The bone-in is the whole chicken cut into parts while leaving the bones in place. The skin is removed for shipping skin-less parts. The boneless meat has the bones removed and the meat is chopped up and reprocessed.
The skin adds approximately 50 calories and 3 g of fat to each piece. Kentucky Fried Chicken has extra calories in its grilled meat due to the ingredients added to make it moist and flavorful. A pre-cooked grilled 3 ounce strip from Kroger contains 110 calories in a skin-less chicken breast.
