What Can Spoil Camping Faster? Bugs!

What can spoil a camping trip faster than the sun can set in Hawaii? Bugs! Camping, in my opinion, is easily the best recreational pastime you can share in. You can go at it with great gusto like climbing a mountain or it can be a leisurely walk on a trail through a meandering meadow. Absolutely everyone can go camping. But there is nothing short of a hurricane that can spoil a camping trip faster than insects. At the outset, let me admit openly that my experience with bugs are north North America.

My travels have been as a tourist, so I have never tramped the jungles of Central America, although I have encountered some very small biting insects in Mexico, kind of like my black fly, and only just for a couple of hours after sunset. Been to Europe, even northern Europe and had no trouble. Southern Europe and the Balkans nothing. Well that’s not quite true. On a Greek island I encountered a cockroach in my bathroom. It was the clicking of his feet on the tile floor that woke me up. I eventually got him but he was so big he wouldn’t flush.

In Canada I have experience. I have been in some of the worst infested areas and could go on and on bragging about survival. Lets deal with the biting kind one at a time. Continue reading “What Can Spoil Camping Faster? Bugs!”

The Aboriginal Dream Time and the Great Flood Part Three

Part three of a three part series

Many times, when animals are under stress, or when they hibernate, they consume little or no food, and often recycle their own waste to survive, making feeding them less of an challenge.

When the ice meteor struck the earth it unleashed a deluge causing the ice caps to begin melting, and underground explosions that released hot gases and water from under the earth’s surface.

The water vapor canopy that once covered the earth began to dissipate and caused it to rain for forty days and nights as described in the bible Continue reading “The Aboriginal Dream Time and the Great Flood Part Three”

Plato, Carbon and the Human Survival Chemistry of the New Renaissance

The world of nanotechnology demonstrates that the ancient Greek Science for Ethical Ends holds a crucial survival message for modern humanity. 21st Century Moral Jurisprudence Law, based upon Immanuel Kant’s definition of aesthetics, as art appreciation theory, has no present practical scientific ethical content. However, aesthetics and ethics link together, through a process known as quantum entanglement, where they function together within the world of quantum nano biotechnology. Aristotle’s harmonic ethical knowledge to guide a science about ennobling government, for the health of the universe, has been given practical validation with the discovery of a new rigorous chemistry embracing the ancient ethical science. 4 Things That Make a Good Coffee Shop

I have traveled all over the country. And with every place I’ve visited, I’ve sipped on my favorite beverage, coffee, in many different coffee shops. I have never been a person to just stop at the nearest coffee chain for my coffee fix either. I’ve always been one to look for the “mom and pop” type coffee place. The places whose character is formed by the owners, staff and those who frequent the shop.

Below are the top four things I think create a coffee shop’s character and make it what it is.

Music

To me, music can impact anything. Your mood, your energy, and well, your coffee shop. Music can greatly enhance or totally destroy the vibe of a cafe. I feel like a coffee shop should be consistent in the type of music it plays to its customers. If it plays calming acoustic music one day, but dance music the next, customers may not know what to expect. While variety can be a great thing, attracting a consistent type of customer base might not work out so well if a shop’s music is too diverse. A perfect example of not being consistent is when one of my favorite coffee shops played electronic music consistently and then one day blared vulgar rap music. I had to leave so I could get my work done. Continue reading “4 Things That Make a Good Coffee Shop”

Wine Glossary – Drinking in the Greek Language

Every wine producing region in the world has its own lingo. The French have terms for wine that the Hungarians don’t, the Americans have terms for wine that the Australians don’t, and the Italians have terms for wine that the Germans don’t. In fact, in the entire wine world, the only term that may transcend nations is the word translated to mean, “More.”

Greece, like the above areas, also has its share of wine jive, jive that is, forgive me, Greek to many of us. For those of us who aren’t travelers, this may seem like no big deal. But, for those who are planning to hop on a plane and bask in the Balkans, being somewhat versed in words of winery will be helpful. So kick off your sandals, loosen your toga, and pull up a chair….iot.

Archondiko: Now, if I were to guess, I would say that Archondiko is some sort of anchovy flavored wine. Turns out, I’m wrong (sorry to disappoint you). Archondiko translates roughly to mean “Chateau,” which is a house located in a vineyard. In Greece, the word Archondiko can be found on bottles of Topikos Oenos Wines, country wines usually made with several different kinds of grape. Choosing The Best Grill Brush For Porcelain Enamel Coated Grill Grates

One typical issue when purchasing a barbecue grill brush is whether or not it will damage your cooking grid. The last thing you want is to scratch the grates of your expensive Weber BBQ. Thankfully, with just a bit of study it is really simple to ensure you purchase the best grill brush for your BBQ.

How delicate your grate is, and how susceptible it may be to damage and scratching, is based upon the material the grate is made from. The most tough material that is frequently used is stainless steel. These grates are really strong and resistant to rust and corrosion. Porcelain coated grill grates, on the other hand, are much more delicate. The porcelain coat is relatively brittle and can chip and crack. No only does this minimize the non stick capability of the grate, it also exposes the metal underneath the enamel to moisture. Cast iron grill grates are really tough, however must be kept oiled to stop rusting. Continue reading “Choosing The Best Grill Brush For Porcelain Enamel Coated Grill Grates”
