How Much is the Monthly Payment on Nutrisystem?

Yesterday, I received an email from someone who asked me how much her monthly payment would be if she signed up for Nutrisystem. After having a dialogue with her, it became evident that she thought that a contract was required with Nutrisystem. There isn’t. The price that you will pay each month will vary depending upon which package you chose. And, while there is a payment option, this is certainly not a requirement. I will explain this more in the following article.

There Is No Contract Or Commitment Required For Nutrisystem: Some people assume that when you sign up for this diet, you have to make a long term commitment that is hard to get out of if you change your mind. This isn’t the case. You can buy by items or meals individually, by the week, or by the month. You can go from month to month or you can sign up for auto delivery. This isn’t a contract and it’s really a feature that is there for convenience. Basically with auto delivery, the company automatically sends you a new order when the last one ends until you cancel this (which you can do at any time.) Basically, when you reach your goal and lose the weight, you just stop placing orders without any additional commitment. Continue reading “How Much is the Monthly Payment on Nutrisystem?”

Tomme De Savoie: A Healthy Cheese Delight

Have you ever heard of the Tomme de Savoie cheese? Now let me ask you, is it possible that a certain cheese can actually take you back to the place where it is made? The answer is yes, there is a cheese that can take you to a foreign place like a distinct photograph in a travel brochure. This cheese is better known a Tomme de Savoie, a firm cow’s milk cheese from France. Tomme de Savoie is special in the sense that it depicts its origins wonderfully. Tasting this cheese will get you to imagine healthy cows grazing in its lush alpine meadows.

Made from Left-Over Skimmed Milk

Tomme de Savoie is a firm cow’s milk cheese. Tomme comes from the French word which means “wheel or round.” Savoie is a known regional area in southwestern France where this earthy good tasting cheese became popular. This cheese has a nutty flavor and a smooth paste that melts delightfully in your mouth. It is a classic everyday treat. This cheese is made from a left over of skimmed milk that is used for the cream to make a butter and richer cheese. Continue reading “Tomme De Savoie: A Healthy Cheese Delight”

Forget Hybrids – Cut Your Carbon Footprint by Eating Less Meat!

“It’s one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global.” That’s what a United Nations report concluded in 2006 when evaluating meat consumption worldwide.

In North America, we love our meat-whether it’s a lazy summer barbecue or a regular meat and potatoes meal. But if you’re looking for a high-impact green living idea, you should consider eating less meat since it can have a greater impact on your carbon footprint (for the good!) than switching from a gas-guzzler to a hybrid car.

As the greatest environmental threat of our time, climate change is one we can’t ignore, and your eating habits have an impact on this problem unrivaled by nearly all other sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Continue reading “Forget Hybrids – Cut Your Carbon Footprint by Eating Less Meat!”

Semolina Fish Fry

Almost every weekend we have house parties. Friends coming over for food and drinks often makes me think of offering them something new and interesting.

I used to serve packaged food most of the times but considering their ill effects on health, finally made me get into the kitchen and take things into my hands.

Being a non-vegetarian always leaves me with a lot of room to experiment with the key ingredients being Chicken or Fish. Nevertheless, the benefits of including Fish in your diet is much greater than any other form of meat. Hence, I tried using the healthiest option of them all, “Salmon”. Rich in Omega 3, a great source of protein and Vitamin B, loaded with antioxidants. This recipe was going to score an “A” in terms of health. But, to enhance the taste, the crunchier the better, so why not make a “Fish Fry”. Continue reading “Semolina Fish Fry”

PRODUCT REVIEW: Wink Frozen Dessert

Don’t buy Wink Frozen Dessert without reading this review. This vegan, no fat, no sugar diet food gets two enthusiastic thumbs and eight fingers way way down.

Unfortunately Wink Frozen Dessert is classified as food. Last night I had a pint of their Dark Chocolate. When I looked at the ingredients list, the two only substances that were recognizeable as “food” were cocoa powder and ground flaxseed. Other ingredients include inulin, pea protein, guar gum, stevia and monkfruit extracts and a substance called “natural flavors.” Note that “natural flavors” is a catch-all phrase for minor ingredients the food manufacturer doesn’t have to disclose or list. Oftentimes “natural flavors” includes neotame, a potent excitotoxin in the same artificial sweetener family as aspartame. Neotame would definitely be needed to make the Wink product palatable because stevia and monkfruit extracts aren’t all that sweet.

Vitalicious 100 Calorie Snacks

Have you ever heard of a company called Vitalicious? Let me tell you all, not just dieters, but those looking for nutritious snacks, Vitalicious has one for you!

Vitalicious sent me a variety pack to review and I was overwhelmed with their generosity. I did not know where to start and my husband and daughter were quick to choose something.

My first taste of their products was the VitaTops Fudge Peanut Butter Chip as seen above! These are made to be toasted but I couldn’t wait! I got ready to take a taste expecting it to taste like other diet foods that just taste like flavored sawdust! Boy were my thoughts wrong! After one bite I was hooked. The Chocolately flavor was really good along with the taste of peanut butter from the chips. I have been avoiding chocolate and I am a chocoholic and now I don’t have to! I also have to tell you these are not little small bite sized items but are BIG full sized chunks of flavor! Continue reading “Vitalicious 100 Calorie Snacks”

Vegetable Nutrition – Empty Calories or Rich Nutrients?

Every Sunday is like the last, my wife sends me to the store with a list of items for the week. All the basics are on there:

  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Cereal
  • Yogurt
  • Celery
  • Lettuce

You get the idea. Like a zombie, I mindlessly walk the store and get each item on the list and bring them home. While unpacking I start to make comments about each item (I probably should write an article on why I shouldn’t do that) and why we don’t need them.

Are Smoothies Low Calorie?

In recent months my body is obese and needs weight reduction for good health. Joining a gym has helped and since becoming a member 8 kilograms of weight has disappeared. But there is more going on than exercise. To start with my diet has been adjusted and sugar and salt is excluded now as much as possible. The wake-up about grains has been a positive, however, as oats taken for breakfast every morning was partly responsible for the problem.

Once this was realised my switch to something better was immediate. Some two years ago my sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and to help her with food intake 2 Magic Mix machines were purchased and one was given to her. The other sat in my cupboard unused until the grains became a no-no.
