How a Raw Vegan Diet Slows and Even Reverses Aging!

The raw vegan diet is a powerful one. It is the diet the human body was designed for and thrives on. Just think about it, all the other animals in the wild eat raw foods. Have you ever seen a lion or tiger with heart disease or cancer? Or how about a chimpanzee or Gorilla with grey hair or a belly? No, they are all beautiful, energetic and youthful until the day they die.

Most people don’t know what an amazing machine their body is because they feed it toxins and junk foods all day, which are killing them slowly instead of helping them thrive. When you eat a raw vegan diet, you will first detox; but once you get through that, and along the way, you will experience many amazing benefits. Where Did All The Farmers Go?

Several times a year, I hear someone complain about the development of farm land in our area. These complainers consider it a crime that so much of our farm land has been converted to housing, business, shopping, etc. They seem to consider the farmers and developers to be criminals.

If you want to know why so many farmers have sold out to developers, allowed the land to grow houses instead of crops and left the farm life that their families enjoyed for generations – read on. Do you know why more and more farms are growing houses, stores and filling stations instead of cows, corn and potatoes? Do you know where the farmers went? Well, my father and I are farmers that left the farm. Most of our neighbors have too. Most of us still live in the area; we just don’t farm any more. Continue reading “Where Did All The Farmers Go?”

Meal Prep For Busy People

Over the years I have mentioned to various people a recipe I use to make a very healthy, homemade vegetable soup. I’m big on preparing food in advance so that it is always available.

Recently, I was asked some specific questions so I thought I would write down everything regarding ingredients and preparation.

A 6 quart crockpot is needed.
The ingredients are mainly obtained at my local Trader Joe’s and are all organic.

Yoga, Nutrition, Organic Food, Health & Wellbeing Have All in Recent Years Become Very Much Stylish

As Gsy Life gave me the theme for this month; I am sat in Planet Organic on Tottenham Court Road, amidst a flurry of people rushing to bag their supplements, gluten free crisps & organic veg, it is rammed wall to wall with funky Yoga Mat’s or bulging gym bags slung over shoulders. Queues are bustling and tills are bulging and there is a real buzz in the air. People are not only embracing the new trend of wellbeing, they actually seem genuinely excited to be taking care of themselves.

And yes, I feel stylish just being here! I’ve got the ‘gear’ on and have just ordered my healthy and nutritious salad, whilst taking a lunch break from training at a well-known London Yoga Studio, and yes it feels good to sit back and watch all this unwind in front of my eyes. I have spent much of my yoga career in and out of various global studios in all corners of the world, and, ironically a leading yoga teacher based in L.A. recently expressed to me how much she loved that London ‘was finally catching on!’ Continue reading “Yoga, Nutrition, Organic Food, Health & Wellbeing Have All in Recent Years Become Very Much Stylish”

How to Overcome Emotional or Compulsive Eating

Have you ever felt so lonely that it made you grab that tub of ice cream on the refrigerator and eat it while your tears were flowing? Or have you ever felt so overjoyed that you ate a lot while laughing and talking to others about your exciting experience? Yes, we all love to eat no matter what the circumstance is. Food is a basic necessity in life. Even when we are not too emotional, we eat because it is a way of life.

Everyone knows that we eat to get nourishment and to stay healthy. But too much eating can put on excess body weight, which could lead to being unhealthy. Becoming overweight can be stressful. I know, I’ve been there. I was naturally slim but as I age, my metabolism becomes slower, thus, gaining those extra pounds on the scale. But I was able to overcome that. I won’t write here about how I lost weight but I’d like to focus on emotional eating. One of my online friends inspired me to write this. She broke up with her boyfriend, was able to move on, but is now getting emotional again. Oh well… Continue reading “How to Overcome Emotional or Compulsive Eating”

Is Your Keto Diet Clean or Dirty?

At CrossFit Diet Tips we have wrote extensively about a good diet program for athletes. Whether you follow a keto style diet, or stick to a Paleo regimen, there are good ways and bad ways to do it. A name alone does not describe a particular diet program. You can follow one to the letter, but if the foods you are using are of poor quality, you may be doing more harm than good. In this article we will focus on the ketogenic (keto) diet.

A keto diet is defined as eating in a way for your body to produce ketones. Ketones are produced by the liver from fat and that process is triggered by eating very little carbohydtrates and a decent amount of protein. The ketones are used by the body for energy. Thus, a keto diet essentially burns fat as the body’s source of fuel. The fat is burned nonstop by your body. When your body produces ketones, it moves into a state of ketosis. The ketosis will burn fat without even worrying about fasting. That is, as long as you keep eating a ketogenic diet.

Can You Cure Fibromyalgia With Fasting?

What a great question, and yes, I think you can. That’s not how I did it, but I have experimented with fasting a bit and have had some interesting results. First, let me say that I cured fibromyalgia with a combination of stretching, supplementation, guaifenesin therapy, bodywork, and emotional processing (trying to change the way I react to things to stop releasing so many stress chemicals in my body).

How to Tell a Good Sushi Bar From a Bad Sushi Bar

“If it looks like sushi, it is sushi”

There is no doubt that the making of sushi is not just a culinary trade, but it is also regarded as an art perfected over a lifetime. Below are some memories and points that highlight various things that make good and bad sushi bars. Things like shop conditions, ingredients quality, etc., but most importantly, the sushi chefs themselves are the ones that stand out as affecting the good sushi vs. bad sushi comparison.

“Bad” Sushi Bar 1: Tokyo, Japan — A local place caught my eye as a cheap and quick means to end my weekly sushi craving. Unfortunately, more often than not, “cheap” and “quick” should be taken as red flags when it comes to sushi. The restaurant immediately smelled of fish upon entering and after taken my seat, the counter smelled of cleanser, a shear sign that the meal would not go well. However, hunger and convenience overpowered my reason and I started to order.

How Do You Like Your Salad Dressing?

I remember the salad dressing that my mother usually made for the family. It was very simple. The fresh cold pressed virgin olive oil from Lebanon, a squeeze of fresh half a lemon, a pinch of fresh mint, salt and pepper and there it was. And our salads at the time, it seems like a lifetime ago, consisted of fresh crunchy green salad, delicious fresh tomatoes and crunchy small cucumbers, and spring onions! Preparing salad was quick, simple, tasty, fresh and super healthy. Fresh salad was a part of our daily diet. The small cucumbers were so delicious we ate them like a fruit. My most favorite as a child was a sandwich of feta cheese with pitta bread and a cucumber. Continue reading “How Do You Like Your Salad Dressing?”
