Coffee Facts From The City of Seattle!

I was recently watching an episode of Bizarre Foods that had a lot of interesting facts and information on the Seattle coffee scene. People in Seattle take coffee very seriously, and they should! It has quite an interesting history there and a lot of fun facts. Today I will cover some the cool things I learned from watching this foodie show starring Andrew Zimmern.

First, Seattle is home to the very first Starbucks ever! Starbucks opened its first store in 1971 in the Pike Place Market, that is located in downtown Seattle. The original Starbucks location decided because the Market is a historic district with design guidelines, the store retains its original look from the 1970’s! It is a pretty cool looking place and I would love to visit this store someday. However, as the show pointed out Seattle is also known for all of its Mom & Pop coffee shops! That is what really makes the city an interesting coffee-lovers place to visit. Continue reading “Coffee Facts From The City of Seattle!”

Tel Aviv Goes Kosher!

Tel Aviv – the trendiest city in Israel, which has lately been chosen as “The world’s best gay city”, a city of decadence and fine restaurants is going through a change these days, a “Kosher” revolution.

What does Kosher mean in Tel Aviv?

Kosher in general – is a set of Jewish dietary laws which forbids some foods and allows most. For instance – seafood is not kosher, while fish with scale are kosher. Pork meat is not kosher while chicken and beef are, and it’s also forbidden to cook chicken or beef with milk in the same pot or eat them at the same time.

There are a number of organizations that issue Kosher certificates worldwide – and make sure that the food is made of only Kosher ingredients. Continue reading “Tel Aviv Goes Kosher!”

The overwhelming hospitality, cultural and historical richness, climate, and buzzing markets are few of the things that make Delhi the cosmopolitan capital of India. The Delhi tourism industry is buoyant and tourists love visiting here!

Carnations – A Sex and the City Favorite?

It seems that ever since Charlotte from Sex and the City dismissed carnations with a scornful “they’re filler flowers,” women everywhere disregard the little flower with upturned noses. But if you want to talk about sturdy resilience, eclectic versatility, and fantastic color then perhaps it’s time to reconsider the carnation’s role as a “filler flower” and start thinking about booking it as a “main attraction.”

The brilliance of carnations is that they last. You can plant them as seeds and while they usually do best outside, you can plant them in garden boxes or larger pots to enjoy indoors. They like full sun and even when cut their blooms outlast most other flowers. While pink and white are the most common colors, carnations come in a variety of colors, including yellow, purple, and striped varieties. Additionally, white carnations can be tinted to whatever color best suits the look you’re going for.

Flowers can add unique flair to an outfit, and both men and women can benefit from a carnation’s versatility and durability. A carnation tucked into a lapel or buttonhole in the morning can look fresh all day and adds a certain amount of old world class to an otherwise typical outfit. Both William McKinley, former U.S. President, and the author, Oscar Wilde, famously wore carnations on their lapels. Continue reading “Carnations – A Sex and the City Favorite?”

Binoy Nazareth Journeys Through the City of Nazareth

Discover the Holy Aura of the Sacred City of Nazareth

Fascination for the spiritual, historic places, adventurous trails besides discovering the wild and wonderful aspects of Nature have always been close to my heart. This time, I decided to take off in to a journey of peace, tranquility and to discover the holy aura of the sacred city of Nazareth. I have always been intrigued with Nazareth, the little town where Jesus grew up. As I explored the ancient town of Nazareth which is the capital city of the northern district of Israel, I was inspired by the interesting sights, archeology, the Middle Eastern charm combined with the modern culture.

An old and revered historic city, Nazareth is located in Lower Galilee and is the largest Arab city. Being the hub of Christian pilgrimage, Nazareth has been associated as the boyhood home of Jesus. It was here that Jesus preached in the synagogue and was rejected by the people. I walked around the Nazareth Village where excavations had taken place and noticed with awe the 2000-year old winepress carved in to the bedrock. The ruins of terraces, watchtowers and a vineyard stretched silently having witnessed the greatest phenomenon of Jesus and His miracles. I could just imagine Jesus walking around as people gathered from far and near to hear of His wondrous parables. Continue reading “Binoy Nazareth Journeys Through the City of Nazareth”

Experiencing Great Food From Different Restaurants Offering Different Cuisines

For many people, especially those that love to eat, a cuisine type that is all about hotdogs, burgers, pizza and other fast food fare is just heaven. These types of food are really very popular. One major reason behind that is the foray of fast food restaurant chains in the global market. However, fast food is just one part of the diversity of a certain cuisine.

The country’s cuisine reflects its storied history, reflecting a diverse number of influences starting with the food and cultural practices brought by early migrants. Over time, these dishes have been transformed and modified to appeal to local tastes and to make use of available ingredients. If you look at the cuisine of different regions and states, you will notice several influences. For example, in the northern states, the influence of foreign cuisine can still be seen.

If you wish to sample what this very popular cuisine has to offer, one of the best places to start would be restaurants near the city where many tourists can actually taste and give reviews. Continue reading “Experiencing Great Food From Different Restaurants Offering Different Cuisines”
