Riding Public Transportation For Fun – An Inexpensive Adventure

Riding public transportation for fun — it sounds crazy, right? Public transit, whether buses, trains, or other modes of transit, are hardly what most people think of when they think of entertainment. Yet public transit, even in areas with relatively poor or sparse transit service, offers an outstanding and inexpensive way to have fun while exploring your city, region, or neighborhood.

Transit is inexpensive:

Rates and fares for public transit vary regionally and from city to city, and also vary based on distance travelled and mode of transportation, but the rates tend to be pretty close to rock bottom, especially when compared to other forms of entertainment. Want to see a movie in the theater? Expect to drop $10 per person, even if you don’t buy any food. Want to go out to eat? Unless you are getting fast food, $5-7 is on the cheap end of things. And if you want something major like a theme park, a fancy restaurants, or tickets to an opera, symphony, or theater performance, expect to pay through the nose. Innovative Business Shares Tips

Many of our loyal readers out there are already aware that Dave and I relish celebrating conscious and proactive entrepreneurs who are working to make a difference in the world while providing their services. Today I am thrilled to highlight a local Kootenay-based business with this wonderful discussion below.

We first met Narae Kang, owner of Kimchi Kitchen, when we spotted a post on social media where she was offering a fantastic opportunity for other local businesses – a free (10×6) vinyl decal displayed on their mobile kitchen unit. A little something for their customers to browse while waiting for their meal. Continue reading “Innovative Business Shares Tips”

Brokeback Mountain Blues

I wanted to see it, but I didn’t want to see it. I’m talking about the “gay cowboy” movie called Brokeback Mountain (even though I read Jake Gyllenhaal, one of the two major actors – “Jack Twist,” wants it to mean much more than that to its audience).

I didn’t want to see Brokeback Mountain because I felt it could be considered some type of tacit approval of two men “falling in love,” which goes against my Christian grain and biblical beliefs, but I wanted to see it because I am humanly “gay all the way.” However, I am not a practicing homosexual (some would say I’m a professional one!), sober and celibate by choice, so help me God, because of deep spiritual convictions. Today in History – What Happened on the 9th of June

68 – With the provinces and his own Praetorian guard rebelling against him, and having now been declared a public enemy by the Roman Senate, Emperor Nero committed suicide saying “What an artist the world is losing in me!”

1623 – British negotiators, who were finalising a treaty with the Indians near Potomac River in North America, offered a toast “symbolising eternal friendship”. Chief Chiskiack, his family and advisers, numbering 200 in all, drank the toast and immediately died of the poisoned drink. The British drank their toast from a different container.

1870 – Charles Dickens died after having suffered a stroke the day before. At the time he was writing Chapter 22 of his fifteenth novel “The Mystery of Edwin Drood”, a work of 44 chapters which he was writing in monthly installments. As a result, the real outcome of the story remains a mystery to this day! Continue reading “Today in History – What Happened on the 9th of June”

Norway Between The Reality And Thoughts

I wake up in the morning of one day on telephones bell, I got my phone to talk and it was strange number but at once I recognized the voice, really I was so happy when I heard it because it was the voice of my Norwegian best friend Mr, Lief, he is elder than me but he is so nice and funny guy I liked him so much, we worked together for 2 years before in Germany in so famous restaurant in Berlin, I worked as a manager food and beverages, he worked there as a chef, he went back home and found a job in big hotel in Oslo that’s because I was at the end of the term of the contract in Germany, I intended not to renew it again because I was not completely satisfied for the salary

So that in the last calling with Mr, Lief, I required to look for a job for me in Norway, he promised he will do it.

After a time and on that day he called me back to tell about getting a job for me and he asked to come to Norway as soon as possible for an interview. of course, it was a great news to get such a job especially I have never been in Norway before also I like to move to new countries and get new adventuer work, I thanked him a lot for his favor. Splitz Enz Hair Studio

Split Enz Hair salon Greymouth

I was quite impressed with my experience with Split Enz hair salon in Greymouth when I went for a haircut sometime in October 2019. I enjoyed the chit chat from the lady who was cutting my hair. She gave me her full attention during my visit not that I would have minded because someone had to tend to the counter each time a customer came in.

Split Enz is on the corner of Tainui and Guinness Street; so well hidden that you would not know it exists if you are a visitor to the town driving around looking for a place to get a haircut. Easiest way to find Split Enz is to go to the Unichem Pharmacy and ask for directions.

Split Enz are open at 8 or 8.30am and close at 5pm but Wednesday and Thursday nights are late closing days with the salon closing at 7PM. On Saturday, it is open from 9AM to 1PM. Continue reading “Splitz Enz Hair Studio”

WDW History 101 – “How to buy 27,000 acres of land and no one notice”

Thinking of walking from the Magic Kingdom to Epcot? Think again!

People, especially those who haven’t been to Walt Disney World in many years, always comment to me about how huge WDW really is. Actually, most people don’t realize how much land WDW actually encompasses. In fact, it’s about about 80 times the size of the entire nation of Monaco, twice the size of Manhattan, and the same size as San Francisco, California! So when you say WDW is huge, you ain’t kidding!

The Walt Disney World Resort is made up of 47 square miles of land…. or about 30,000 acres. Only about 1100 acres of that land is devoted to the 4 theme parks. In fact, with only 7,100 acres developed, there’s quite a lot of room for expansion!

But how (and why) did Disney buy up all that land? Continue reading “WDW History 101 – “How to buy 27,000 acres of land and no one notice””

Living With a Pet Serval

Some sources seem to indicate that living with a serval is no more challenging than feeding your pet goldfish. At the other end of the extreme spectrum, many sanctuaries and animal rights activists paint servals and other exotic cats as unmanageable creatures that no ordinary mortal could hope to deal with successfully. As is usually the case, the truth lies in a rational world between the two extremes.

Servals are much more challenging and time consuming to raise than a domestic cat. In order to end up with a tame, safe, and loving serval that can live in your house, you are going to have to spend a lot of time socializing, training, and housebreaking him. These things don’t happen automatically with a serval.

There will be problems to overcome. In order to do so you will need a solid understanding of how animals learn and how to humanely modify their behavior. This is not an animal for an inexperienced pet owner, or even for an experienced pet owner who has only had “easy” animals! Continue reading “Living With a Pet Serval”

Five Dollar Buffets in Las Vegas

Let me tell you that, if you are in Sin City, buying a local newspaper or going through local magazines will reward you with offers from a few buffets. If you are not sure, you can often read or hear about those offers even before you go through the papers. Once we found coupons for one dollar buffets offers for the Palace Station. Even if it’s not the best buffet in town, what can you actually eat or drink for one dollar these days?

The Palace Station buffet, the Palms buffet, the Main Street Station buffet and, occasionally, the Stratosphere, the LV Hilton, the Gold Coast and the Orleans buffets will run special offers (always mid-week, never for weekends) where you can eat for around five dollars per person; a great bargain these days. There are other off-Strip establishments which give you these great offers and you really need to keep an eye out when you are in this city. These offers are advertised on their own websites, published on local newspapers or magazines (some of them are free and you can find them everywhere in this city) or even at large billboards as you drive around this town. Always look where you are going because there are very often special off-Strip offers. During the week you will never have to eat at any off-Strip buffet for less more than 10 dollars, often less if you have a player’s card. Continue reading “Five Dollar Buffets in Las Vegas”

Fast Talking

This is something the ancients used to do. But what are the benefits? I can only relay to the reader that which has been my own experience. I have practiced Fasting, on and off, for forty-six years now. Recently I went back to fasting after not doing it for several years.

What prompted me was the pain and aches in my joints, the regular headaches, the sleeplessness, anxiety, foggy mind and general lack of energy I have been experiencing. I went to my book shelf looking for help and pulled out my trusted old friend, ‘The Miracle of Fasting by Paul Bragg. I honestly don’t know why I stopped reading this book but I suspect it was due to the modern trappings of life. Fine food, fine wine and lazy living brought about by the notion that I am now simply too old to do the same things I did more than four decades ago. However, according to Paul Bragg, that is not the case. Never say Never! Continue reading “Fast Talking”
