What the Food Is Like On A Navy Ship

I was in the navy for 8 years, and I’ve had food from navy destroyers, aircraft carriers, submarine tenders, and shore duty galleys.

When a ship is in port, it always had plenty of fresh food on board. Right before a ship pulls out to sea, it is replenished with new food and drink.

If you going to be out to sea for a while, you will start to lose some of the things on board you take for granted. Fresh milk is usually one of the first things to go. They substitute it with powdered milk, and it does not even come close to real milk.

Don’t get me wrong, the food on the ship is actually pretty good, and you get plenty of it!

Waiter Training – Teach Your Waitstaff Basic Food Knowledge & Preparation Methods

As owner/operator of a restaurant, if you asked one of your waiters: “what is the difference between broiled chicken and roasted chicken?’ or “what is a ragout sauce?’ Would you be provided with the correct answer? If not, then I highly suggest that you start teaching basic food knowledge and food preparation methods in your waiter training programs. Otherwise, precious revenue and service reputation is being lost unnecessarily everyday in your restaurant’s dining room.

Most chefs work extremely hard and long hours to design and implement a food menu. But, if your waiters cannot follow through with proper dining room service that includes being able to explain, in detail, everything on that menu, then a lot of the chef’s valuable time and effort work is being wasted.

Arowana – The Best Foods To Feed Your Baby Arowana

Arowana fish have a wide and varied food diet and really anything that will fit in there mouth is considered food to them. But when we are looking after a baby arowana we have to be more aware of the foods we are feeding them. Personally I don’t recommend live bait feeding to a young arowana due to how susceptible they will be to disease and live bait is the biggest cause of disease spread among aquarium arowanas.

Here is the run down of food types that will suit a baby arowana whether it is silver, red or golden. I am classing a baby arowana as any arowana below 15cm in length. This size of arowana fish should be fed up to 3 times a day.

Keeping Your Camping Food Hot – Top 5 Tips To Keep It Nice And Warm

There is nothing quite like being out in the open air by your tent having some lovely hot food after being outside all day. Camping is all about getting back to our roots and being in tune with nature, whether you are camping in the hills, the woods or at plush campsite with all the bells and whistles like shower block and social club with a television.

One of the great things is cooking out in the open whether that is by means of a barbecue or a camping stove. But one of the issues us campers come across is how do we keep the food warm? It is not like at home where you can turn the oven down or reheat your stew in the microwave. At camp you either have to eat it one sitting or eat it cold. Or do you? Here are my top five tips on keeping your camping food hot;

Electromagnetic Charges in Food!

“Taking in foods that take away more energy than they provide will lower Your bodies ability to deal with the natural processes of Digestion, assimilation and elimination.”

Our bodies operate on a subtle electromagnetic current. Nerve signals are in fact electrical charges-your brain, heart, and all organs emit and create a Field of electrical current.

Your body’s cells communicate with each other with pulses of Electricity. When we eat food our body breaks down the food particles into there Smallest size (COLLOIDS). A colloid is the smallest possible form of nutrient particle (generally – The size ranges from .01 to .00001 of a micron in diameter).

What Makes Our Food More Appetizing?

Have you ever heard it said we eat with our eyes? Although the phrase may sound silly give it some thought. Our eyes tell us when we’re attracted to the opposite sex. You’re not going to get up close and personal with someone you don’t find physically appealing are you? It’s the same with food.

So it could be said we do eat with our eyes. If we don’t find it physically pleasing then it’s unlikely we’ll want to eat it. Ever wondered why restaurants serve up meals with a little garnish on the plate, some salad, etc. It’s to make the food seem more attractive. If it looks pleasant then chances are it probably tastes that way as well. A problem a lot of people have is not making their meals look good enough. When people start a diet they invariably make their meal look dull and boring. Extra effort is needed to make it seem exciting and appetising.

Food Brings People Together and at Its Essence is Love, Life and the Heart of Society

Food sustains life, yet it is so much more than something we need to nourish our bodies. Food at its essence is love, life and the heart of society. Food brings people together. It is the shared flavors of friendship and community. We like being with others enjoying the tastes and textures of food. Often through these shared experiences intimacy develops, memories exist and relationships thrive.

We fondly remember childhood food experiences, often wishing to duplicate those tastes that remind of us of home. Food is at the center of our sense of family and relationships. Certain aromas transport us back in time to the people and places we care about. We remember family picnics and food festivals.

4 Food Preservation Methods Common To African Cuisine

For hundreds of years, food on the African continent has been preserved without the benefit of refridgeration. How? This article describes four methods of food preservation common in Africa.

1. Sun-drying

For many Africans, the sun is an important factor in food preservation. Soon after the harvest, grains such as millet, maize, sorghum, green gram, and wheat, as well as pulses such as beans and peas are spread out in the sun to dry. If completely dried of moisture, these foodstuffs can last a very long time – sometimes years – if stored in a cool, dry place and protected from pests.
