Ice Cream, Chocolate and Anxiety

You say it: these three words do not seem to have anything in common. All the same, I have to use them together, as you do so.

In fact, I got to know from sufferers of anxiety that many of them get more anxiety symptoms when they eat these sweets.

The same thing can be said of drinking coffee. The drink contributes to anxiety. If coffee is taken as a short espresso, like the Italians do, it has no influence on the nervous system. On the other hand, if you brew your coffee the American way, too much caffeine is solved in the water and then it can harm you. If you limit the intake of this coffee, it is ok. Limiting it, means not to drink more than a maximum of two cups. If you have the same problems with these food stuffs, just try not to intake them.

There are many other good sweet nutrients or stimulating drinks or foods that do not  harm your body and especially do not harm your nervous system.

Things to Know About Renting a Soft Serve Ice Cream Machine

Thinking about renting a soft serve machine? Sweet! They totally turn a great party into an awesome one! Below are listed some things to be aware of as you plan to use a soft serve machine for your wedding reception, birthday party, or other event.

1. Transportation: Most rental companies require that you pick the machine up and return it to them. This seems simple enough- but be sure to bring the man power you need to lift it (generally two to three strong people), as most soft serve machines typically weigh around 220 pounds. They don’t fit in a small four door car, so plan on bringing a van, a SUV, or truck to transport it.

2. Electricity: Several soft serve rental companies rent out a Taylor 152-12 machine which runs off of a standard 20 volt outlet. 20 volt outlets are found in most homes in the kitchen or bathroom. The machine runs on 16.2 amps which means that if you attempt to run lights or additional appliances on the same circuit, it is likely to trip. Just make sure that nothing else is plugged into the same circuit as the machine and it should work properly.

Most Popular Ice Cream Toppings

Americans love their ice cream, consuming about 30 liters per person a year. From “jimmies” to hot fudge, it is the toppings that really are the cherry on top of this multi-billion dollar industry.

Once upon a time, an ice cream shop customer only had a couple of choices if they wanted to add a topping to their favorite frozen dessert. Now there are almost as many frozen dessert topping options as there are flavors of this special frozen treat.

Top 10 most popular toppings

1. Hot Fudge – this classic topping is still number one according to most consumers. Warm, gooey chocolate dripping over your favorite frozen treat flavor – what’s not to love?

2. Caramel – There must be something about the contrast between the ice-cold dessert and a warm, sweet topping because caramel came in a close second to hot fudge. Continue reading “Most Popular Ice Cream Toppings”

Facts And Different Uses Of Bentwood Ice Cream Chairs

The popularity of bentwood ice cream chairs or wooden ice cream chairs started to grow from the fag end of the Victorian period. From that period, use of this chair gradually started to increase. In the 1930’s and 1940’s twisted wire ice cream parlor chairs were mass-produced. In this period, this chair was standard furniture of ice cream parlors. Hence, they are also known as ice cream shop chairs.

For some time their popularity decreased due to various reasons but in recent times their popularity has again started growing.

Their use as antique ice cream chairs are also very popular.

Oak wood is most popular among the woods used for its production. Because it ages and with proper finishing and preservation, the oaken furniture gathers a majestic look and shine. Thus, it gains an old-fashioned value.

Apart from oak wood, among more valuable woods, mahogany and walnut are also used. Also, they are available in beech, ash, birch and other woods. Continue reading “Facts And Different Uses Of Bentwood Ice Cream Chairs”

Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream – How Did It All Start?

There is an ice cream stand located in almost every town. Ice cream has become very popular in America and many companies have made a fortune out of making the tasty dessert. One of the most famous companies is Ben and Jerry’s. Ben and Jerry’s started off small and grew into an American fortune company, now they have done it again by taking their wacky ice cream to countries all over the world.

The founders of the company are Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. They met and become friends in middle school located in Long Island, New York. They moved to Vermont and completed a course in ice creaming from Penn State. For those who don’t know where Penn State is it is located in Pennsylvania. Before they were even known, they had seen a lot of the eastern coast and that helped them come up with some of their early designs.

It was 1978 when they opened their first store. They invested only $12,000 and only borrowed four thousand dollars. This is relatively small amount for start up capital. Today, you wouldn’t even pay your rent with $16,000, but Ben and Jerry made it happen. They opened their first store in Burlington, Vermont. Here they become well known for their parties. They would sell their ice cream and project movies on the side of a wall of a run-down gas station. Continue reading “Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream – How Did It All Start?”

Making Banana Ice Cream With Your Greenstar Or Champion Juicer

I was amazed the first time I made all-natural banana ice cream with my GreenStar juicer! Let me explain.

The GreenStar juicer is a heavy-duty twin gear triturating juicer. What that means is that it has two interlocking gears that grind up fruits and vegetables and extract the juice. Over top of the gears you place a screen attachment to let the juice pass through the unit while the pulp gets strained and ejected. However, when you buy a GreenStar juicer, it also comes with a “blank” attachment to use in place of the screen. You use the blank attachment for making things like peanut butter, sorbet, baby food and pate.

Champion juicers have a similar arrangement, the only difference being that instead of twin gears, the Champion juicer has a single auger-style masticating gear.

I was eager to try making banana ice cream. I was told by a friend that the best way is to take some ripe bananas, take them completely out of the peel, place them in a freezer bag and then freeze them for at least 24 hours. They need to be frozen solid in order to make the best consistency coming out of the GreenStar. Continue reading “Making Banana Ice Cream With Your Greenstar Or Champion Juicer”

Painting an Ice Cream Truck: The Do’s and the Don’ts

Q: Why is owning an ice cream truck vending company like owning a modeling agency?

A: Because looks count for A LOT.

There is nothing that is going to lose you more customers in less time than a truck which has a paint job which makes it look sketchy, trashy or just plain boring. So I’ve created a list of 5 do’s and 5 don’ts you should be aware of when making the crucial decision about how to paint your truck:

DO’S:

  1. DO use bright colors which make your truck standout – after all you want to be noticed!
  2. DO use your writing and text which will advertise you by drawing the eye and which is appealing to both children and adults.
  3. DO keep your design simple – don’t bombard your customers with distracting colors and images.
  4. DO go for a retro design. For many people, ice cream trucks conjure up treasured memories from their youth so you can never be too old-fashioned!
  5. DO you know your customer! Certain designs will work better in different locations and with people from different backgrounds and income brackets. An ice cream truck selling along Venice Beach is going to have a very different look and feel than a truck selling in downtown Manhattan!
