On Being a Rice Queen

In my forthcoming novel “The Rice Queen Spy” I pay homage to a British Caucasian homosexual who spent his whole life having sexual encounters only with Asian men. In essence “No Caucasians need apply” was his motto. A rice queen is a Caucasian or a black gay man who is either partially or completely devoted to Asian men. It is something of a slangy term as is the term potato queen which signifies an Asian man fond of white men.

I have even heard Asian men who were partial to black men called sweet potato queens or yam queens. Don’t blame me. This is all part of the argot of gay life. Gay terminology and slang have always been a lively and rapidly evolving feature of the gay sub-culture.

Up until the middle of the nineteen eighties, before there was a national crackdown, rice queens were going to the Philippines in large numbers. For quite some decades now Thailand has been the preferred location for rice queens. Sex junkets to Thailand have been organized not only for gay men but for large numbers of straight men who are after female sex partners. Often sex partners who are too young. Many gay Caucasians have moved permanently to Thailand because of the availability of sexual encounters with Thais. Continue reading “On Being a Rice Queen”

Fun Facts About Cottage Cheese

Cottage cheese is not usually associated with boycotts, but in the summer of 2011, that produced by the Elite company was boycotted in Israel because of its high cost, in comparison to its cost in the US. Elite is an Israeli company, so it didn’t seem fair that the price of its cottage cheese was higher in Israel than it was in other countries. The boycott was successful and the price was eventually lowered.

In the Indian subcontinent cottage cheese or ‘paneer’ is used in many savoury dishes, and goes well in a spicy dish with spinach. It is used to tame the hot spices used in traditional dishes, and these are very tasty.

Little Miss Muffet was clearly greedy and impatient. She sat on her “tuffet, eating her curds and whey” which are the precursors of cottage cheese. If she had waited a little longer she may not have had that traumatic encounter with the spider.

Cottage cheese is made by curdling pasteurized milk and draining off most of the liquid or whey, so that the only the curds are left in squishy lumps. You can curdle the milk with lemon juice, and make it from low-fat milk, so that it has fewer calories. Continue reading “Fun Facts About Cottage Cheese”

Can You Develop an Allergy to Alcohol Later in Life?

The short answer to “Can you develop an allergy to alcohol later in life?” is YES!!

I know this because this happened to me. I was a drinker in my early and mid thirties. I had no issues whatsoever with allergies to alcohol. I quit drinking. Started drinking again in my mid forties. My drinking was at the level of getting drunk about 3 nights a week. (yes I WAS an alcoholic which has something to do with allergy to alcohol which I will explain) After two years of drinking all of a sudden one night I thought I was having a stroke.

That is probably the best way to describe allergic reactions to alcohol for someone who never experienced it for themselves. The symptoms I was having made me think I was having a stroke because I had never even heard of alcohol allergy before. My symptoms to drinking that night hit quick and hard and included: Continue reading “Can You Develop an Allergy to Alcohol Later in Life?”

Life Offers Us a Bewildering Amount of Choice – Coffee Is No Exception

Starting with the basics – Fresh is best.

– If you don’t have a coffee bean grinder go for ground coffee (filter ground). It won’t retain its freshness as long as a bean but its a good place to start.

– One more important point before you dash off to the supermarket (or Amazon) – Roast types:

  • Espresso roast – designed for espresso coffee machines
  • Filter roast – designed for pour over method of making coffee IE Caferiere, Aeropress, Drip fed.

and this is where it gets a murky or milky as you like – another guideline for you

  • If you prefer it black then go for a Single origin coffee (from a single known geographical location – such as a farm or estate)
  • If you like to drink it with milk/cream go for a Blend

Treating Fibroids – Foods – What Not to Eat

Little do we know that the main reasons for our fibroids growing bigger is the foods we eat and the excess of estrogen which finds its way into our internal body. Research has shown that women from the Afro Caribbean and Asian cultures suffers with larger fibroids than women of Caucasian culture. Looking at the different diets of those races, I have found that the core reasons why there is such a difference in the amount of women in the African Caribbean and Asian cultures is that we eat a lot of animal food – far more than that found in the Caucasian culture. Why is this?

For the African and Asian cultures, their diets usually consist of white rice, potatoes and animal meats i.e. chicken, red meat and fish. Mostly chicken – and chicken which is not organic, is injected with antibodies/pesticides in order that they can grow bigger in order that they can sell quicker and this contributes to toxins poisons being embedded in the internal body thus causing the fibroids to feed on same and fibroids grow bigger. Silver Arowana-Another Excellent Substitute For It’s More Expensive Cousin-The Asian Arowana

Despite legal limitations, captive breeding challenges, and of course their high cost, the Asian varieties will probably always be the most sought after Arowanas. Perhaps nothing can compare with the splendor of Cross back Golden Arowanas. The brilliant coloration of Red Arowanas is equally hard to rival. No matter what type of Asian Arowana one considers, no other species rivals its status as King of the Aquarium.

Yet for many, the King remains off-limits due to their geographical location and trade restrictions. Others simply cannot afford the prices Asian Arowanas command. What can you do if you’re one of the many without access to your favorite fish? Until it becomes available, take a practical approach and enjoy an intriguing, amazing alternative.

Introducing the Silver Arowana

All About Bulgogi – Korean Beef

Bulgogi is popular Korean dish that is enjoyed by many all around the world. The word bulgogi is derived from two Korean words; bul means fire and gogi is the Korean term for meat. So a direct translation to bulgogi is fire meat. While Bulgogi sauce can be made spicy and hot, the fire refers to the cooking method, as it’s usually cooking over an open flame. Bulgogi is usually made with sirloin and other types of Korean beef, but sometimes it can be made with chicken (dak bulgogi) or pork (dwaeji bulgogi). The meat is then marinated in a bulgogi sauce that can differ by region.

In ancient times, bulgogi was a meal for the king, especially during the Joseon Dynasty. The origins of bulgogi and bulgogi sauce are not quite clear, but many believe that it started in 37 BC-688 AD during the Gorguryeo era. Research shows that this dish used to be called maekjeok and the Korean beef was grilled on a skewer. During the Joseon Dynasty, bulgogi went by the name of neobiari, which translated, to thinly spread. So while there have been slight changes in names and cooking techniques throughout the century, bulgogi meat and bulgogi is a recipe as old as time. How to Pick Up Asian Girls in Bars and Nightclubs

Asian girls… well, generally, we aren’t an elusive bunch. If you don’t believe me, walk down to Chinatown any day of the week and you will see just how easy it is to find us. However, when it comes to a night out there seems to be a scarcity of Asian girls in most Western bars and nightclubs. If, however – for some reason – you really feel the need to pick up an Asian girl (or see an Asian girl that you want to get with) there are some things that may help you along your way. Firstly, before you leave the house, make sure your hair looks great. We love guys with good hair like a university student loves cheap drinks.

Ever wondered why Asian guys always have the coolest hair? It’s because us girls made it that way. Spike it up, or at least make it look like you put a little bit of effort into styling your hair. This way, you make a great impression before you even talk to her. Also, get this into your head before you go out: Asian girls don’t like it when you ask “Hey, so do you eat weird food?” or “Wow, your English is really good!”. You might think you’re being cool and funny, we just think you’re being racist and rude. Force it out of your mind as one of those ‘conversation starters’ and opt instead for something like “So did you move here when you were young?” Believe me, the conversation will take you a lot further this way. Celebrity Solstice Cruise Ship Review – Celebrity Cruises Review

Celebrity Cruises Solstice is a 122,000 ton, 2850 passenger cruise ship that entered service in November 2008. She was the first in a series of 5 Solstice-class cruise ships, including the Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette, and Reflection. From the moment I stepped onto the Solstice, I knew this one was different. The Solstice had calming, soothe color palettes, with rich dark wood panels and earth tone walls. The spa, the lawn club, hot glass show, the service, and ship itself were amazing. The Solstice was elegant yet understated; it felt luxurious to me.

The cabins were very comfortable and Zen-like, and I felt like I was staying at a spa. I had the pleasure of staying in a balcony stateroom, with a supple white leather couch that doubled as a bed, and the bedding was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The shower had a shave-bar…a feature I found very useful when shaving my legs.

The pool area was like nothing I had ever seen. There were dancing waters..and comfortable lounge chairs. I especially loved the cabanas around the pool. Continue reading “Celebrity Solstice Cruise Ship Review – Celebrity Cruises Review”
