Indian Food and Their Calorie Content

Some time back I started surfing the net for calories contained in the food that I ate. Unfortunately while there are vast amounts of information of the continental food eaten in the west there is not much for the typical Indian diet. After scrounging around in many different sources I have finally been able to get some basic facts together. Not all of them may be absolutely accurate, but it will help you calculate your meal calorie content better than before.

And as everyone on a diet and exercise regime knows that the better the calculation the faster the weight loss. Very often the exercise calories can be counted with great accuracy as the machines in the gym give it to us in no uncertain terms, but the ones in food can be a major hassle as it needs to be calculated individually by the person eating the food. Here is where the mistakes take place as the average calories may not always be correct in all the cases. Continue reading “Indian Food and Their Calorie Content”

Case Study: Digestive Issues and Traditional Chinese Medicine

BW came to me complaining of intense pain in his stomach and also along the left underside of his ribcage (which, incidentally, is called the ‘hypochondriac region’; ‘hypochondrium’ derived from the Greek word for ‘abdomen’). He said he had lost his appetite, and he was feeling very tired – pretty close to the point of exhaustion. BW was in his early 60’s, and otherwise was in very good health. He got plenty of exercise, he ate well, and he slept a good amount for a man his age.

His tongue looked pale to me, and it was slightly swollen with some redness on the sides and on the tip. His pulse was soft, and a little slippery on the left side, but was soft and quite weak on the right side.

House Rules For Kids

1. No talking when Mom or Dad are speaking.

2. Fix your problems with your sibling(s) or I will fix them (and you may not like my fix).

3. Tell your mother that you love her meals, every time she makes you a meal.

4. If we pick you up late from a sports practice or club meeting – – – deal with it and don’t have an attitude when you get in the car. Be happy you have “parent limo service” that you don’t pay for.

5. Do not speak so loudly that Dad can’t hear his conversation with Mom.

Sazio on the Avenue

I have always enjoyed living in South Florida. I feel the warmth hugging me from morning until night. Untouched by serious storms in recent years, it has been blessed.

The beaches, outdoor activities and weather are so inviting. The travel and moving industry has picked up quite a bit with a great many new homes and apartment developments in progress. Downtown Delray they have built a new marketplace with fast food sections of all kinds. Talk is they are building a mall and several new office buildings.

I always favored Palm Beach, The shops have all reopened and living here during this pandemic has gotten a renewed breather.

Preparing an Avocado

After Penelope Middleton published her latest book on Amazon, “Exotic Cooking,” she received a number of emails asking how to safely and easily seed an avocado. She did the ‘honest thing’ and forwarded the emails to me! So, rising to the occasion like a hungry bass chasing a tasty meal, here’s my suggested way to prepare an avocado. Beware… my way does involve a large, sharp knife!

Binoy Nazareth Goes California Dreamin

Experiencing the Essence of Wanderlust

With love of all inspiring things great and small, I decided to take the road to California to experience my passion for sunny beaches, great food and revel in an intoxicating atmosphere. Evolving over 900 miles on the Western border of America, the California dream became a reality as I stepped into the land of diverse people, cable cars, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Alcatraz Island. With innumerable things to do, I tried to cram my itinerary with hiking through the national parks, going on wine tasting tours, visiting Disneyland, relaxing on sunny beaches and experimenting with water sports. Review of Bindi Restaurant in Lincoln

There is something very special about authentically cooked Indian cuisine. Beautifully balanced flavours and spices come together to create mouthwatering delights, and nowhere is this more evident than at the hugely popular Bindi restaurant in Sheffield. This bright, vibrant restaurant has a great vibe so it’s no surprise that it is quickly becoming ‘the’ place to for traditionally prepared Indian food. It doesn’t matter whether you’re familiar with the flavours of this style of cooking or a newcomer, the kitchen team at Bindi are happy to make adjustments to dishes if needed, to ensure you enjoy every mouthful. Spice lovers can ask their server to turn up the heat, and of course there are milder and sweeter dishes for those who are chilli-shy! Continue reading “Review of Bindi Restaurant in Lincoln”

6 Characteristics of the Lion to Consider For Your Own Leadership

As a leader, there are certain qualities and characteristics of lions that you might find useful to consider – for yourself and your “pride.” Let us just take a few minutes to explore these and as with all metaphors, we aren’t going to beat this one to death.

1. Protective

You don’t have to watch very many Discovery Channel shows about lions to see how very protective they are – of territory, themselves, their young, and so forth. As far as being more lion-like, what do you need to be protective of? Protective of yourself? Your money? Your children? Your partner? Your spouse? Your business? Your colleagues? Your position? Your beliefs? So, exactly what do you need to be protective of? Continue reading “6 Characteristics of the Lion to Consider For Your Own Leadership”

Wing Dings and Tide Pods – Super Bowl Snacks

For those of you who have not yet visited the new Food Lion store in Wake Forest, which, based on the hoard of shoppers we had to fight our way through today there can’t be many, I wanted to give you a quick rundown on a few of the things you can expect at this new modern location.

One of the first things I found unique was how all the sidewalks funnel you down to the sides of the building, you know, so you can enter the vestibule through the doors that are perpendicular to the front of the building (for those of you from Iron-Duff that’s a fancy way of saying that there’s a porch that sticks out from the front of the house and instead of having steps that go right up the middle the steps is over on each side). Strange thing was, when we got to the side of the vestibule, there won’t no doors there. So what you have to do next is, step back out into the road, avoid getting hit, and then walk back to the front of the vestibule where the doors are (porch for those of you from Iron-Duff). I must say, having an awning over that front area (covered porch for those of you from Iron-Duff) would have been really handy during today’s monsoon.
